It's been awhile..

Like a long while. I never did post those pictures of my cuties first birthday when I said I would so there they are. He is now 16 months! CRAZY! He is doing so well. He is such a wild thing, always into something. He has been walking around the furniture and stuff for a few weeks now and is trying to stand without anything and even walk without holding onto things! He is fearless for sure! He has also been eating(picking things up and feeding himself) for a few weeks now too. He really does amaze me! We saw his OT yesterday and she said that he doesn't need to come to her anymore because there is nothing for her to work on with him anymore and she said that he is lucky because he has great muscle tone for a baby with DS. So that is exciting! The funny thing is with all his progress we really haven't worked hard to get there, I kind of just do things he wants to because I know it will come when he is ready for it and I don't need to stress both of us out over things he will eventually do. He is getting pretty good with talking, he is so interested in watching our mouths when we talk and trying to copy what we say. Poor thing gets so frustrated that he can't say what he wants to. I really really really love my little man!

One year!

Brody had his first Birthday on Cinco de Mayo! He is getting so big!! We had dinner and birthday cake at my Mom's. He loved the cake! He was also supposed to have his year checkup but they were closed for training and didn't call to reschedule because they had our number in wrong. So we found out by going in and it being closed! Lucky us!

Also today is mothers day and I am so grateful to be this little mans mom! Seriously! I love him so much! This time last year we were at the NICU with him. It's amazing how much changes in a year! He used to be so quite and now he has an opinion about everything. He lets us know but grunting, glaring, yelling, smiling, talking or shaking his hands with anger! He is hilarious! He is so capable of doing a lot of things on his own. He doesn't need to crawl or walk to get around he can roll and scoot until he gets where he wants and fast. He eats real food! He loved his bottle and then we started him on cereal when he was 6 months and around 10 months that's all he really wanted was cereal. Now all he wants is real food. He likes corn and eggs and soup and anything else we give him. He really won't take his baby food anymore!

I will post some pictures tomorrow of his birthday!

I really love this little man and can't believe how lucky I am to have him in my life!

Oh how I love my little man

Isn't he cute?

Oh did I mention he is getting pretty good at sitting by himself? He amazes me every day.

He had an appointment with the GI today and they think he might still be refluxing. They want another swallow feed done. And to think we thought the Nissen Fundoplication surgery would fix that...

Way Late Update :)

Brody did have his Nissen Fundoplication surgery December 18th. I was so nervous for it because of what happened last time he had something like this. But everything went great! They did surgery with a robot so they could do smaller incisions. They only had to make 5 little ones. After surgery in post-op he had a very high fever of 105 and they weren't sure why. But it did slowly go away. When he would wake up you could tell he was in so much pain by the way he cried, it was so sad!! We were in the hospital for 3 days.

I can say that it is so different having him not spit up everywhere and not burp. I kind of miss that he can't burp and I know he does because now he has gas pains from it. Things have changed for him for the better, we can now do tummy time! But things have also gotten harder, he is not a good sleeper at night because of his pains. And he's a bit more fussy. In the long run though everything will be better for him.

We had an amazing Thanksgiving/Christmas with the family! I absolutely loved it! And now we are on to the New Year and those resolutions that go along with it. One of mine is to blog more.. really I will try. But I also want to really work with Brody on hitting those milestones that he needs to. And of course lose weight.
